Sri Lanka Navy Relaunches Editahara II

Sri Lanka Navy’s Fast Gun Boat, Edithara II was ceremonially relaunched after semi-refit at the Naval Dockyard in Trincomalee on 21st May 2014.

 

Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Rohan Amarasinghe, senior naval officers of the Naval Dockyard, Commanding Officer Edithara II, Lieutenant Commander Janaka Hettiarachchi and the crew participated in the re-launching ceremony held to mark the occasion.

Semi-refit on Edithara II was carried out on the Number 3 Slipway at a cost of Rs. 51.4 million (about USD 880.400). Naval personnel of the Naval Dockyard were able to complete the work within a year, enabling Edithara II to resume her service more efficiently with the modern equipment fitted onboard.
