Russian Navy’s Warship Enters Colombo, Sri Lanka

The Russian Naval Ship “Moskva” arrived at the port of Colombo on 23rd October 2014 on a replenishment and goodwill visit.

The ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions on her arrival.

To coincide with the ship’s visit, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Sri Lanka and the Maldives His Excellency Mr. Alexander A. Karchava and the ship’s Commanding Officer Captain (1st Rank) Sergey I. Tronev paid a courtesy call to the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera at the Naval Headquarters in Colombo. They held cordial discussions and exchanged mementos to mark the occasion.

The guided missile cruiser Moskva is 187 meters in length. It has a displacement of 9,270 tons and consists of a complement of 514 naval personnel. The vessel departed Sri Lanka on 24th October.
