UK Navy’s Weapons Systems Support Deal Goes to SEA
SEA, a Cohort plc company, has been awarded a 5 year contract, worth £1.4m to support core elements of the UK Royal Navy’s weapons systems.
Under the contract its subsidiary, J+S, will continue to support the Magazine Torpedo Launch System (MTLS), the SeaGnat decoy launcher and a range of Air Weapons Handling equipment used on board UK RN ships.
In 1983, J+S designed the MTLS system and has supported it in service ever since, it was then awarded the role of delegated design authority and support contractor for SeaGnat in 2008 and for the Air Weapons Handling Equipment in 2011. This new contract brings together the support of these three systems.
In addition to being a core part of its UK maritime support business, this contract will support SEA’s growing export business, proving an important reference with the UK Royal Navy. Within the last 12 months, the company has won export contracts in excess of £20 million for its Torpedo Launch System.
