Authorities

US Navy’s Rear Admiral Ron Boxall, Commander, Carrier Strike Group Three, visited the guided missile destroyer USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108) while stationed at Continental Maritime of San Diego, March 4.

During his visit, Boxall met with members of the wardroom, took the opportunity to share his experiences as the commanding officer of several Aegis ships, and spoke about his interactions with the ship’s namesake, Rear Adm. Wayne E Meyer, who passed away Sept, 1, 2009.

After speaking with the crew, Boxall met with command leadership and the chief’s mess.

After touring the ship’s spaces, Boxall held an all hands call in which he answered questions from the crew. Several Sailors inquired about future plans for the ship and his opinions concerning the weapons systems on board.

USS Wayne E. Meyer recently returned from a deployment in the Western Pacific and is currently in port in San Diego.
