Coronado Navy League Adopts USS Coronado

The officers and crew of the littoral combat ship USS Coronado (LCS 4) were officially adopted by the Coronado Council of the United States Navy League, July 12.

The adoption, unanimously supported by both the directors of the Coronado Navy League and the ship’s leadership, was announced during the city’s July 12 Concert in the Park.

Coronado is currently commanded by Cmdr. Pete Kim and is comprised of LCS Crew 204, Surface Warfare Detachment 2, and Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 35, Detachment 9.

The adoption formalizes the Coronado Council’s commitment to enhance the morale and general well-being of the Coronado crew and families throughout the life of the ship.

Coronado is at sea this summer executing a surface warfare mission package initial operational test and evaluation and initial operational concept of the Independence-variant leading to fleet release and full rate production.
