HMS Lancaster’s Crew Members Take a Break

After nearly five months at sea, eight members of HMS Lancaster’s crew are looking forward to getting home to Southampton for two weeks with their families and loved ones.

Halfway through a nine month deployment – and having travelled 20,000 miles visiting 10 ports – it is time for some deserved rest and relaxation.

They are all flying home from Simon’s Town, South Africa, to be with their loved ones before returning to the ship and sailing up the west coast of Africa.

The men are from all over the city and surrounding areas.

All eight have been away from home since late March and looking forward to returning to the English summer having just spent five months in the cold and snow of the Southern Hemisphere winter.

The Portsmouth based Type 23 frigate is currently on Atlantic patrol duties.
