HMAS Melbourne Drops Anchor at Port of Colombo

The Australian Naval Ship HMAS Melbourne arrived at the port of Colombo, Sri Lanka, on August 29, 2015.

Commanding Officer of the ship, Commander Bill Waters paid a courtesy call on Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Dayananda Nanayakkara at the Western Naval Command Headquarters in Colombo.  Defence Advisor of the Australian High Commission in Sri Lanka Captain Jason Sears was also present on the occasion.

The ship will stay in Sri Lanka until September 2, and the crew members are scheduled to take part in several special programs arranged by the Sri Lanka Navy during their stay to strengthen ties between the two navies.
