SNMG1 Visits Port of Belfast

The Standing NATO Maritime Group 1 (SNMG1) visited the port of Belfast, Ireland, between October 15 – 19, after completing their participation in the exercise Joint Warrior 152.

Commander of the SNMG-1, the Portuguese Admiral Alberto Correia, accompanied by the Commander of the Spanish frigate Blas de Lezo Commander Rafael Arcos Palacios, was greeted by the mayor of Belfast and other local authorities during the the formal visits which were conducted in the morning of October 16.

After the operational meetings were completed, the Spanish frigate organised an official dinner, with local authorities and commanders of the group in attendance. A classic evening reception was held, attended by 180 guests including representatives of ships, staff of the SNMG-1 and Spanish community residing in the city.

Blas de Lezo departed Belfast on October 19 to take part in the Exercise Trident Juncture 2015.
