Mexican Navy seizes over 400 kilos of cocaine

Approximately 440 kilograms of cocaine were seized from a container ship travelling from Panama to Guatemala, the Mexican Navy said in a report.

Joint efforts between the Mexican Navy and the country’s tax administration service (SAT) resulted in the seizure which was made February 19.

A scan of the ship’s cargo conducted by the Navy determined that three containers concealed 363 brick-shaped packages wrapped with tape. The contraband, weighed in at 438 kilos, was transferred to local authorities for further examination.

The Mexican Navy said the cocaine was found on the Liberian flagged container ship Teno which was sailing from Panama to Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala’s largest Pacific Ocean port.
