French warships visit Kochi, India

French Naval ships Tonnerre and Guepratte have arrived on a visit to Kochi, India.

Amphibious assault helicopter carrier Tonnerre and the La Fayette-class frigate Guepratte arrived on April 12 and are scheduled to stay until April 16.

Captain Laurent Sudrat and Commander Claire Pothier are the commanding officers of Tonnerre and Guepratte respectively. During the visit, various interactions with Southern Naval Command have been planned.

Exchange of visits by specialist officers and personnel from both navies will take place during the stay of the French ships.

French defense companies, such as DCNS and Thales among others, have put up a display onboard FS Tonnerre. Also, specialist medical officers from Indian Armed forces visited the French ship.

Indian Navy ships Sunayna and Sharda will join their French counterparts for a passing exercise (PASSEX) on their departure.

The French ships had last visited Muscat while their next planed stop is Singapore.
