British consultancy, engineering and project management company Amec Foster Wheeler has landed a contract for work on the Royal Navy’s fleet of nuclear powered Vanguard-class submarines.

Under the contract, which is expected to be worth around £75 million over a five-year period, Amec Foster will be providing nuclear propulsion safety and technical advice for UK nuclear submarines.

“This contract consolidates Amec Foster Wheeler’s position as the largest provider of independent safety assurance in the UK nuclear sector,” Clive White, president of Amec Foster Wheeler’s Clean Energy business, said.
