Navantia to provide CMS for Polish Navy’s Miecznik frigates

Spanish shipbuilder Navantia has been shortlisted to develop a combat management system (CMS) proposal that integrates the sensors and weapons system that best suits the requirements of the Polish Navy’s Miecznik frigates.

Last month, Navantia was shortlisted as a potential partner of the PGZ-MIECZNIK consortium for the development of the combat system for future Miecznick frigates.

Now the company has moved to the next stage in the tender to provide CMS proposal that integrates the sensors and weapons systems that best suits the requirements of the Armaments Inspectorate of the Polish Ministry of Defence.

The decision on the contractor is expected next year.

The Miecznik program launched by the Polish Government envisages the construction of three multi-mission frigates at the local PGZ shipyard in Gdynia through a Technology Transfer (ToT) contract with an international company.

The shipbuilder has presented its products and services and its experience in systems integration and technology transfer participating for the first time at the MSPO defense fair in the city of Kielce this September.

The Miecznik frigate construction program is part of an ambitious plan launched by the Polish Government to modernize its Armed Forces with an investment of €115,000 million until 2035.
