The delivery of the ship, the first vessel among six OPVs ordered by the Philippine Navy, was nearly five months earlier than the contractual delivery date. The OPV has been equipped with an acoustic detection system for anti-submarine operations and features dedicated spaces for various mission modules to enable effective deployment across a wide range of operating environments, including maritime surveillance, maritime security missions, and military operations.

In addition, ahead of the vessel’s delivery, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries provided a pre-delivery training program to support the Philippine Navy in operating the ship safely immediately upon delivery.

“The early delivery of the Philippine Navy’s OPV has demonstrated both HD Hyundai Heavy Industries’ reliability and competitive edge in meeting delivery schedules,” and added, “We will continue to contribute to the modernization of the Philippine Navy and the stable operation of its forces through the construction and delivery of the follow-on vessels,” an official from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries said.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has participated in the Philippine Navy’s modernization program since 2016, securing orders for a total of 12 naval vessels, including frigates and OPVs. Starting with the early delivery of the first frigate, Jose Rizal, by one month, the company has delivered five vessels ahead of schedule to date, supporting the Philippine Navy’s fleet modernization efforts.
