Three foreign warships from Germany, Netherlands, and the US will moor at Vasilyevsky Island’s quay of St. Petersburg.

They will participate in the 5th International Maritime Defense Show (IMDS-2011) to be held since June 29 till July 3.

Apart from arrival of foreign warships, the IMDS program includes demonstration firings of 10 shipborne gun systems at Rzhevsky Range. An air show of aerobatic teams Strizhi and Russian Knights as well as helicopters and UAVs will take place over the Gulf of Finland. Also, fifteen ships of Russian Navy and FSB Frontier Service will moor at Vasilyevsky Island.

“The IMDS project turns 10 this year. We’ll try to maintain the format set at the first IMDS exhibition and cover all development phases of naval arms and engineering“, said deputy director general of JSC Morskoy Salon Alexander Koloskov.

IMDS has entered the world’s top three naval exhibitions rating in a short period. The show is unique as it comprises both military and civilian products of Russian and foreign companies. It covers all aspects from shipbuilding and naval weapons to innovative materials, electronics, and IT.

JSC MKB Compass will present unique mobile basing site for surface ships and submarines. It takes only 15-30 days to deploy basing site with full life support system. As for directors of MKB Compass, the system can be in demand for civil purposes in Arctic.
