PF Ships Head for Kamchatka, Russia

Pacific Fleet (PF) task force consisting of Guard missile cruiser Varyag, large ASW ships Admiral Vinogradov and Admiral Tributs, and destroyer Bystry took the sea to perform assigned combat training tasks, told PF Information Support Group to Central Navy Portal.

Over 15 other PF ships based at south coast of Primorsky Krai will join the task force in the nearest time.

After that, the unit will head for Kamchatka to conduct active phase of the large-scale exercise to be held by Eastern Military Districtin in mid-Sept.

The coming maneuvers will become the culmination of Pacific Fleet’s combat training period not only from the viewpoint of amount of participants but uniqueness of assigned tasks.

During the exercise, PF task force will carry out dozens of missile, torpedo, and gun firing drills, landing and air assaults on unequipped coast.

“Personnel of the task force has been preparing hard for the coming exercise. Crews are manned with experienced servicemen and skilled sailors; they had covered thousands miles and had performed dozens of combat exercises”, said PF Primorsk Flotilla Commander Capt 1 rank Viktor Sokolov. “I’m sure, they will accomplish all tasks excellently”.
