Commander of Sri Lanka Navyy Addresses Direct Entry Naval Officers

Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake addressed the Direct Entry naval officers at the NHQ Wardroom on 17th November 2011. He warmly welcomed the newly-enlisted officers and thanked the parents for giving consent to their sons and daughters to devote their precious youth for a noble cause.

In his speech, the Navy Commander described the Navy as a professionally advanced and technically enriched force. It is a closely-knit family and all officers and sailors work together for a common goal, he said.

Drawing the attention of the Naval officers being enlisted, the Navy Commander emphasised, being a Naval officer they earn special recognition from the society and will be able to lend their knowledge and expertise for the benefit of their Motherland.

The officers will be joining the Navy’s Logistic, IT, Electrical, Dental and Medical Branches and the Volunteer Force in the ranks of Lieutenant, Sub-lieutenant and Acting Sub-lieutenant on completion of their naval officer training at the prestigious Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee.
