The Pakistan Navy has carried out a successful live-fire test of an indigenously developed ship-launched anti-ship ballistic missile, marking a significant step in its evolving maritime strike capabilities.

According to an official statement, the missile accurately engaged its designated target at extended range, traveling at high speed and showcasing what the navy described as a “precision-strike capability” in a realistic operational scenario.

The announcement was accompanied by the release of a video, highlighting the missile’s launch and terminal engagement phase.

The demonstration was witnessed by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, along with senior scientists and engineers involved in the program. Their presence underscored the importance of the test within Pakistan’s broader defense modernization efforts.

Officials noted that the missile incorporates advanced guidance systems and enhanced maneuverability features, enabling it to adapt to dynamic conditions and evade potential threats during flight. These capabilities are critical for modern anti-ship ballistic missiles, which are designed to counter increasingly sophisticated naval defenses.

The navy stated that the achievement reinforces its commitment to maintaining a credible sea-based deterrent in the conventional domain while contributing to maritime security and regional stability.

The test also highlights Pakistan’s growing emphasis on indigenous defense development.

To remind, at the beginning of this month, the Pakistan Navy inducted the second Babur-class (MILGEM) corvette PNS KHAIBAR in Karachi.
