Sri Lanka Navy Rescues 6 Indian Fishermen

Sri Lanka Navy rescued 06 Indian fishermen in the Sri Lankan waters north of  Vettileikerni on 23rd December 2011. They were brought ashore and handed over to Point Pedro Police for onward action.

The Indian fishermen had been poaching in Sri Lankan Waters when their boat had begun to drift towards VTK shore due to a defect in the propeller shaft. The boat is named “Periya Naheem Matha” and bears the registration number TN/06/MFB/1054. It had left from the Nagapatnam Fishery Harbour in Tamil Nadu on 20th December.
