Atlas Elektronik UK Secures Cerberus Mod 2 DDS Sonars Contract

ATLAS ELEKTRONIK UK Ltd has announced that it has secured a major contract for the supply of a significant number of its class leading Cerberus Mod 2 Diver Detection System (DDS) sonars for installation in strategic harbours in South Korea.

The contract has been awarded by LIG Nex1, the South Korean Aerospace and Defence Company which is a subsidiary of the LG Corporation, the second largest South Korean conglomerate.

This important contract has been awarded to ATLAS ELEKTRONIK UK following performance tests of the Cerberus DDS which were conducted alongside a competitors system. The superior performance of Cerberus DDS was demonstrated in challenging acoustic environments.

Over a period of 5 years, ATLAS ELEKTRONIK UK will supply DDS systems to LIG Nex1 for installation but in conjunction with a domestic company providing long term in-service support.

Mr James Young, Head of the Atlas Elektronik UK Surface Ships Division said

“We are delighted with the award of this contract to provide an important security system for our South Korean customer. It reinforces our position as a class leader in the design, development and supply of high performance Diver Detection Systems which has been built on our heritage of advanced sonar processing and hardware design.

Hopefully other potential customers will follow suit and select the Cerberus system for its superior performance and competitive price ahead of our competitors.”
