Sri Lanka Navy Deploys Rapid Response and Release Squadron

In view of Poson celebrations, Sri Lanka Navy has deployed its specialized rescue squadron, 4Rs (Rapid Response Rescue and Release Squadron), for the protection of devotees in the sacred city of Anuradhapura.

Fourteen (14) naval teams specialized in life saving along with sixteen (16) naval boats with life saving equipment have been deployed in ten (10) lakes situated within the precincts of the sacred city. The Navy is in operation in Basawakkulama Wewa, Tissa Wewa, Nuwara Wewa, Kala Wewa, Nachchaduwa Wewa, Mahakanadara Wewa, Rajanganaya Wewa, Balalu Wewa, Kuruvi Wewa and Mahavillachchiya Wewa.

Hundreds of thousands of Buddhist devotees are thronging to the sacred city on pilgrimages. The Navy under the direction of the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy has taken steps to provide security and life safety to the devotees who have arrived to pay homage to the sacred Places of Buddhist Worship located in the sacred city.
