Sri Lanka Navy Rescues Fishing Vessel Stuck on Rocks

Naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command rescued a fishing trawler stuck on rocks close to Sweat Bay on 06^th December 2012. The fishing trawler named “Saman Eliya” had left from Cod Bay Fishery Harbour for fishing and the incident had occurred while leaving the harbour around 15:50hrs.

An alert Naval Patrol Craft in the vicinity had promptly rendered assistance sending a rescue team to the location. The retrieved trawler with a 5-member crew onboard was towed to the Sweat Bay beach safely for repairs.
