Sri Lanka Navy Rescues Fishing Boat on Fire

Naval troops attached to the Eastern Naval Command rescued a fishing boat which had caught fire while fishing in the seas off Trincomalee on 8th January 2013.

In response to a request made by the crew, a fast Naval craft was immediately sent to the location for the rescue of the crew and the boat named “Sudu Ruwan 2” was towed to Trincomalee Harbour for repairs with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Naval ship Jagatha after extinguishing the fire onboard.

“Sudu Ruwan 2” with 7 crew members onboard had left for fishing on 01st January 2013 from the Ambalangoda Fisheries Harbour and the fire had occurred due to a mechanical fault of the main engine.
