USA: AAI Lands EA-6B Prowler Hydraulics PBL Contract

AAI Lands EA-6B Prowler Hydraulics PBL Contract

NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (WSS) awarded a $6.9 million Performance Based Logistics (PBL) contract to AAI Logistics & Technical Services Jan. 29.

This Firm Fixed Price (FFP) competitive contract renewal delivers supply support for 112 line items of repairable and consumable hydraulic components for the EA-6B Prowler Electronics Warfare (EW) aircraft.

“This contract delivers affordable readiness for our EW mission systems and IED-jamming capability. In perfect alignment with the DoD’s ‘Better Buying Power 2.0,’ NAVSUP WSS has put a contract in place that preserves a high level of system availability and delivers it at a lower cost. This competitive renewal effort represents the DOD Gold Standard for the effective use of a PBL,” said NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support Director of Contracting Capt. Chris Mosher.

The contract performs through Jan. 31, 2018 and contains language that encourages AAI to continually improve repair and supply chain capability while also returning a portion of cost to the Navy for efficiencies realized during performance.

In compliance with Title 10 requirements, AAI Logistics and Technical Services will leverage existing government repair capabilities and partner with Fleet Readiness Centers (FRC) Southeast and Southwest. PBL contractors offer Naval FRCs insights into commercial best practices, act as reliable parts providers, and provide as-needed tech insertions.

There are currently 34 active maritime and aviation PBL contracts managed by NAVSUP WSS.

A field activity of the Naval Supply Systems Command, NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support is the U.S. Navy’s supply chain manager providing worldwide support to the aviation, surface ship, and submarine communities. Formerly known as the Naval Inventory Control Point (NAVICP), NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support provides Navy, Marine Corps, joint and allied forces with products and services that deliver combat capability through logistics. With over 2,000 civilian and military personnel employed at its two Pennsylvania sites, NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support’s Philadelphia site supports aircraft while its Mechanicsburg site supports ships and submarines.
