Syria: US Navy Destroyer Returns from Mediterranean Sea

The US Navy destroyer USS Mahan is heading home from the Mediterranean Sea, according to the News Channel 3.

USS Mahan, which had been deployed for 8 months and positioned near Syria, changed course yesterday.

The destroyer is said to be set to return to Hampton Roads this week.

Other warships named Barry, Ramage, Gravely, Stout and amphibious transport ship USS San Antonio are still positioned near Syria, should the US Congress give a go-ahead to strike the Assad regime.

The US Navy has recently moved Nimitz Carrier Strike Group into the Red Sea for now.

The ships are without formal tasking for involvement in Syria.
