Spanish Navy, Police Team Up in Drug Bust

A Spanish Navy patrol boat has collaborated with the Police in an anti-drug operation in Atlantic Ocean waters, 500 miles off the Canary Islands, consisting in the seizure of the vessel ‘Tritón 2000’ with an important shipment of drugs.

The vessel was boarded by a Police Special Operations team operating from the Spanish Navy patrol boat. During the operation the two crew members of the vessel were arrested.

The ‘Tritón 2000’ was escorted by the offshore patrol boat to the Las Palmas Naval Station. The operation was coordinated by the Maritime Security and Surveillance Command integrated into the operational structure of the Armed Forces and directly under the command of the Chief of the Defense Staff, admiral general Fernando García Sánchez.
