Last Pieces of Irving Shipbuilding's Production Building in Place

Last steel truss has been installed on Irving Shipbuilding’s new production building that will be used to construct Canada’s new naval combat ships starting in 2015.

Representatives from Irving Shipbuilding, Walters Steel, Ironworkers Local 752, Hatch Mott MacDonald, EllisDon, and Irving Equipment gathered on August 6, 2014 to celebrate the installation of the last steel truss on the new Production Building, under construction at Halifax Shipyard.

The truss was signed by members of Ironworkers Local 752 and Walters Steel before it was lifted 47 meters to be placed on the top of the very north end of the new building. Halifax Shipyard’s new Assembly and Ultra Hall production facility will be more than four football fields long once completed.
