German defense technology company FLANQ and modular systems specialist Norrenbrock Technik have announced a partnership to co-develop containerized mission modules for autonomous naval operations under FLANQ’s Q-KONTAIN concept.

The collaboration will combine FLANQ’s Q-RECON uncrewed surface vessels and AI-enabled system architecture with Norrenbrock Technik’s military-grade container systems to deliver scalable capabilities for command and control, logistics support, and at-sea mission services.

This announcement marks the latest in a series of partnerships through which FLANQ has assembled an end-to-end, uncrewed-first maritime capability stack at speed. Existing partnerships are already delivering tactical communications for unmanned surface vessel (USV) command and control, and USV-launched unmanned aerial systems (UAS).

According to the partners, initial Q-KONTAIN module variants are planned to include several mission-focused configurations.

The Command and Control (C2) module provides a self-contained operational hub with secure communications and battle management interfaces, allowing a command node to be established within hours of deployment ashore or at sea.

The Distributed Manufacturing Production Unit (DMPU) is designed to support in-theatre fabrication and repair, enabling maintenance and production tasks close to the operational area and reducing reliance on fixed industrial facilities and long supply chains.

The Store, Service, Sustain (S3) module focuses on supporting uncrewed surface vessel operations, covering transport, maintenance, inspection, and rapid configuration of FLANQ’s USV fleet to enable continued use from forward or remote bases.

“Naval doctrine across Europe is changing fundamentally. Forces and specialised units need capabilities they can build fast, move fast and sustain in-theatre. Q-KONTAIN, in collaboration with Norrenbrock Technik, is our answer to that challenge: purpose-built modular infrastructure that delivers operational effect from day one of deployment. Norrenbrock Technik brings the engineering rigour and certified manufacturing background needed to transform this concept into operational capability we can deliver today,” Daniel Esser, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer , FLANQ, said.

“We have spent years developing and fielding certified military container systems across land domains. Partnering with FLANQ allows us to bring that engineering expertise directly into the naval sphere, at a moment when demand for exactly this kind of rapid, scalable, containerised capability has never been greater. Q-KONTAIN is a compelling concept, and we are proud to be the manufacturing partner that will bring it to the Europe, NATO and our allies,” said Robert Norrenbrock, Managing Director, Norrenbrock Technik.
