CPO Pinning

Five Sailors aboard amphibious transport dock ship USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19) were frocked to chief petty officer (CPO) during a ceremony held Sept. 16.

The pinning ceremony began with soon-to-be chiefs marching while singing “Anchors Aweigh,” embodying the Navy pride and unity that comes with their new title and rank.

Each chief selectee was individually pinned, and then capped with their new khaki combination covers, marking a new milestone in their careers.

Mesa Verde is currently deployed as part of the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
