Russian Navy’s Warship Docks in Cuba

Authorities

Russian Navy’s Vishnya-class intelligence ship, the Viktor Leonov SSV-175, arrived in Cuba yesterday, January 20.

The visit occurred just prior to a bilateral meeting between the Obama Administration and the Havana government, as reported by CNBC.

The vessel, which made two visits in February and March last year, moored to a pier in Havana where cruise ships normally dock. According to INQUISITR, these visits were not announced by the Cuban authorities.

The Vishnya class vessels, also known as the Meridian class, are a group of intelligence collection ships built for the Soviet Navy in the 1980s.
