USS Dewey Reaches Deployment Halfway Point

Sailors aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Dewey (DDG 105) marked the halfway point of the ship’s deployment with a celebration hosted by the ship’s Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) division and First Class Petty Officer Association (FCPOA).

The celebration gave Sailors time to reflect on all the events that had occurred in the first half of deployment and what stood out to them the most.

The halfway celebration was also a reminder of the Dewey returning to its homeport of San Diego.

Dewey is deployed in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, maritime security operations, and theater security cooperation efforts such as Coalition Task Force (CTF) 150 in the region. CTF-150 is a multinational task force that conducts counter terrorism and maritime security operations in the Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and the Red Sea.
