FNS La Grandiere Docks in Richards Bay, South Africa

The French Naval Ship (FNS) La Grandiere visited the port of Richards Bay, South Africa, from 14 to 18 February 2015.

The Officer Commanding (OC) of FNS La Grandiere, Lt Cdr N. Napal paid a courtesy call to the mayor’s office to meet with the mayor, chief magistrate, police commissioner and the port captain.

Lt Cdr N. Napal invited the dignitaries on board FNS La Grandiere.

The vessel last visited the port of Richards Bay ten years ago.

FNS La Grandiere is an amphibious ship for the French Armed Force of South Indian Ocean (FAZSOI) and it is based in the Port des Galets in La Réunion. She operates in the Indian Ocean, providing missions such as sovereignty, supply of Eparses Islands (Mozambique channel), deployment of troops and contribution to the French diplomacy by representation and cooperation.
