USS Farragut Leaves Palma de Mallorca, Spain

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Farragut (DDG 99) departed Palma de Mallorca, Spain, April 1, completing its second port visit while in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations.

Cmdr. Cory Applebee, commanding officer onboard Farragut, conducted office visits to Capt. Roberto Ortiz, Commander Spanish Naval Sector, Balearic Islands, Ms. Teresa Palmer, Spanish Civil Delegate to the Balearic Islands, and Mr. Alberto Pons, President of the Port Authority for the Balearic Islands.

During the visit, crew members explored the island and took in Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) tours of the local Drach caves. Farragut crew members also provided ship tours to several Spanish military members.

Farragut is part of the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group (TRCSG), which is composed of the flagship, USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 1, the guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy (CG 60), and the guided-missile destroyers USS Forrest Sherman (DDG 98) and USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81).
