Authorities

The Arleigh-Burke class guided-missile destroyer USS Porter (DDG 78) departed the Black Sea on July 17, 2015, after a series of engagements that promoted peace and stability in the region.

Porter’s operations in the Black Sea reaffirmed U.S. commitment toward the region and increased joint operational capabilities amongst U.S., NATO and regional Black Sea partners.

Porter entered the Black Sea July 5, 2015, in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve. While there, the ship participated in Exercise Breeze 2015, made two port visits in Varna, Bulgaria, and conducted a passing exercise (PASSEX) with the Romanian Navy.

Porter, forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, is on a routine patrol conducting naval operations with allies and partners in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in order to advance security and stability in Europe.
