Austal Australia launches seventh evolved Cape-class patrol boat

Austal Australia has launched the seventh evolved Cape-class patrol boat for the Royal Australian Navy.

The ship ADV Cape Solander was floated out at the Henderson, Western Australia shipyard.

Austal has already delivered six 58-meter evolved Cape-class patrol boats since May 2020, and following the Australian Government’s recent announcements in November 2023 and February 2024, we’ll be delivering another four vessels in the next two years for the Royal Australian Navy.

The first five evolved Cape-class patrol boats, Cape Otway, Cape PeronCape NaturalisteCape Capricorn and Cape Woolamai were delivered within eighteen months, from March 2022.

The boats feature larger amenities to accommodate up to 32 people, improved quality of life systems and advanced sustainment intelligence systems that further enhance the Royal Australian Navy.

The patrol boats are used for a wide variety of constabulary and naval missions and have an important role in Australia’s national security.

In October 2023, Austal delivered the sixth vessel, ADV Cape Pillar.
