Authorities

On Friday, February 27, Brigadier General Nico Tak, the Director of the Comprehensive Crisis and Operations Management Centre (CCOMC) at SHAPE, paid a visit to NATO Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM) to discuss areas of cooperation and mutual interest.

Brigadier General Tak observed the MARCOM daily operational update in the Maritime Operations Centre (MOC) before meeting with Rear Admiral Giorgio Lazio, Chief of Staff Allied Maritime Command, to exchange views on the implementation of NATO’s Readiness Action Plan, including the establishment of a Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) mandated at the September 2014 Wales Summit. Brigadier General Tak was also briefed on MARCOM’s current and future operations and its contributions to assuring Allies of NATO’s commitment to collective defence.

Established in early May 2012, CCOMC is part of SHAPE’s Transition Program, and it contributes to deliver a more flexible and agile Alliance, ready to respond to 21st Century crises in a more effective way.

Rear Admiral Lazio said:

This visit by Director CCOMC at HQ MARCOM will allow the Allied Command for Operations to better exploit the potentialities and face the challenges offered by the maritime domain.
